01.29.10 Sarah in the studio

Taking a studio lighting class this quarter. Did a session with Sarah, so check it out below.


Kept things pretty simple for the most part. It’s been a while since working with lights…

Decided to change things up and throw in a hot light while using a slow shutter speed.

D700 + 85 1.4, using a Profoto strobe and softbox, camera right for the most part.

    Can you explain to me how you achieved the effect with the hotlights in the last few images?

      Nothing too tricky, I just plugged in a constant hot light while still firing the strobes, and dropped my shutter speed to something really slow (1/4 second or less). The strobe freezes the image for the most part, and the hot lights start to affect the ambient exposure.
